I've heard the blob or sabretooth's is decent but i've forgotten the stats on them.
Not too sure about artifacts either.

well it depends on what skills you use and what other items you have

Well I plan on using; bloody slash, rending sweep, slashing leap, furious lunge and healing factor for now but i'll probably use brutal slash and "i'm the best there is" in the later levels.

You'll have to see the gear that you get and whether it is enough, or if you need something like sabertooth's medal. I found it a lot more effective when I was playing wolverine to go w/ healing factor + dodge, as opposed to just counting on regen, but w/ added defense he may not get 1hit as much

Does it still work where you can equip the 1 basic attack to left click and blood slash to right click?

Sure does! and from what i've heard the bleeding effect on bloody slash doesn't stack, which doesn't make sense since storms lightning column stacks lol but oh well.
