I am trying to figure out what you start with in this game, whether it be some amount of credits for new players or already have heroes to choose from, or what. Also, where would be a good place to find guide(s) for heroes?

You start out with a hero, I recommend storm as she's a good kiter and has some good aoe spells.

Don't pick up Storm. You'll regret that you did. She was the most boring 1-30 I have ever done. I haven't touched Thing but Scarlet Witch is fun and Daredevil has a pretty decent early game.
