We buried my wife Jean the next day. Over the next week our situation was slowly revealed to us. The first thing we noticed was that no electrical equipment hooked up to the main power grid worked. Electrical goods powered by batteries still worked just fine – but televisions, radios, electric cookers were completely fried. In some cases the plugs and plug sockets were simply fused together as if some tremendous electrical charge had heated them up to melting point. The next was not revealed to us until the third night…

I awoke to the sound of scratching - it was coming from the living room. I left my daughter curled up in the bed, took the torch from the bedside table and went to investigate. Before I even got there the scratching stopped and a loud crash of broken glass told me the window had been broken. I shone my torch into the room and that’s when I saw my first zombie. It was pulling itself through the shattered remains of my window, completely unaware of the shards of broken glass tearing at its body. Terrified I ran back to my daughter and scooped her into my arms. I knew right away that we weren’t safe here – I carried her outside and into the garage. I laid her down on the backseat of the car and got into the driver’s seat. Then I drove – I didn’t know where I was going and I didn’t care. Along the way we saw many more of the creatures – shambling and shuffling through the streets. We drove on along the motorway and out into the middle of nowhere until finally - we saw it. A great wall of cars and trucks, reinforced with sheets of corrugated iron and topped by huge searchlights. Not only that - people too. The first people I had seen since the event. They stood atop the wall pointing and shouting. As we drove towards it a big double decker bus began to shift to reveal the entrance to New Eden. That’s right, exactly where we are now. This ramshackle group of makeshift huts and tents is all there is as far as I know. But it’s good enough. The people here are kind and help each other out, they sure helped me and mine when we got here with nothing but our car and the clothes on our backs. I’m a mechanic, or I was before the event – so I do what I can to help them with their vehicles and appliances. Keep the generators running as long as we have petrol. Do some repairs where they’re needed. Everyone pitches in around here. You will too I’m sure. We need to do all we can to help each other in this new world.

Character Concept - Served 4 years in the Army, Honerable Discharge due to broken leg

Character description and backstory- Hello, My name Is Gabe, I'm 6'3 Blonde hair, Blue eyes, Around 225LBS, Pretty easy going, but I Don't have a problem taking charge if I must : It was just like any other day on the farm, Outside picking Veggies, It was the season after all, And all of the sudden, The "White Light" Hit, It was bad... The worst thing I have ever experienced, And I've been through hell and back, It was a searing pain like no other, My eyes felt like they were melting, and my skin was on fire, I hit the ground screaming For an easy hour, and It finally ended.. Out of nowhere, I was able to get up, and look around, Everything was dead, All my plants, all my Animals... Even my Dog Lou.. I'm lucky I guess, and was spared from death.. for now. I did what any other Good ol' boy would do, Went inside Grabbed a Beer, Noticing that I no longer had power And Went to Bury Lou. (Family Had already passed away, I'm Single no kids) As the days past, Things started changing.. I heard noises at night, So.. I Grabbed my gun and went outside around 4 am, And realized, they were everywhere, My Generator must have drawn them to me, And I did the smart thing for once, I grabbed my Gun, and my premade backpack, and drove, And drove, and drove, And I Seemed to run into these Cars, Stacks ontop of each other with spot lights, They call this New Eden, Everyone chips in around here, And I know how to Raise Livestock and Work the farm aswell as Teach how to use Most Firearms, and Some Mediocre First aid, So Who knows, Maybe this will become home.
