I'm looking for a game with simple turn based combat (pretty much select a move and wait for your turn) that still does a good job of making you strategize.

any suggestions?

actually, older games would be the best (something i can download or even a flash game), but if newer games are more than welcome

I am not sure if any people still play this, but it used to be a big online game. It's turn-based, flash game, from xgenstudios, creators of stick arena.

looking for single player games mainly

Fire Emblem (Wii, GBA) fits the bill. turn based, single player, strategy involved. Hit chances are based on percents, however.

Valkyria Chronicles (PS3) is also turn based strategy, with limited real time aspects. Check a gameplay video on youtube to see what I mean.

truth be told, im trying to start an RPG flash game and im going to work on developing a combat system first... trying to stay away from the different elemants, attack, heal thing most of them got going on atm.
