The genre is called JRPG, Japanese RPGs.

Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy 5 (i think it's 5) also 4 & Chrono Trigger are the best games ever made. Sword of Mana (i think it's called) maybe it's different for the snes, legend of mana or something? Battle Toads is cool, but i could never beat it.

I still need to find my old copy of chrono trigger & bof1

you can download emulator n play it much faster leveling up with turbo mode XD

theres a cool game called ogre battle

not the march of th e black queen one but the other one.
cartage is impossible to find, but you might find a ro.... i mean...

Secret of Mana is the best SNES-rpg ever

Secret of Evermore is also done well and Terranigma is also pretty famous (I just played the beginning in the Underworld and dind´t like that part too much because it was like SoM light, but a mate told me that the "real" game starts afterwards).

Zelda 3 is a bit different, but also a great rpg.
