I'm searching for a single player RPG game for PC that is kind of heavy on the loot aspect. Ideally it would be recent with high graphics capabilities, you'd be able to both quest as well as grind monsters for treasure, and it would be a pretty big world to get lost in.
I just picked up Torchlight for $5 from Steam during the holiday sale. It would have been the ideal game, but it was an indie release and thus was quite small in scope. Basically one hub town and endless RNG dungeon levels. I hate to bring up WoW because I played it for a year and got way too involved, but I would love a game similar only single player.
I've looked at several... Borderlands was an option, but the single player element looks very weak. My leading choice so far would be Dragon Age: Origins, but I dislike how if you kill a monster or open a chest, it remains dead/opened for the entirety of your gameplay. This means you cannot farm for treasure to improve your character before taking on a tough quest. Furthermore, reviews say that random world combat is rare, so you can't really ride around the massive world and kill stuff. I've had Dungeon Hunter recommended to me, but it's way too old school. Obviously Diablo 3 isn't out yet, lol.

I've also heard Risen mentioned, but your character only wears like 3 pieces of gear in that game... hardly a treasure hunter's dream. My last thought was Elder Scrolls IV, but the combat system in that game looks reallllllly simple and boring.
Any suggestions? I feel like I've exhausted all possibilites and haven't found a game that would perfectly suit me.
My system reqs are i5-750 cpu, radeon hd 5770 gpu, 4gb ddr3, big enough hdd, so I can run most if not all games at reasonable settings so far as I know.
Any tips or ideas would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
