Legend Of Mana is probably my all-time favorite.

Pokemon and FF series started out strong, but just died when the 50th or 60th one was released (slight exaggeration).

I'm supprised no one has mentioned Neverwinter Nights (PC), or my all time favorite asside from Final Fantasy series is Fire Emblem (GC)!! The story line is epic, very addictive, and the gameplay is exciting, and customizeable as well. If you haven't heard of it or ever played it, i HIGHLY reccomend it
