try arcade games for older systems. like the ones where ur flying around in a ship killing other things. those are prolly the hardest games.

Vouch this. You kinda have to use the tactics system, but yeah... if you play in real-time without pauses for micromanagement, it can be pretty damn hard.

Playing the game regular doesn't even have any skill to it. It's 100% luck and grinding.
Also, games that have a "wait" and "active" fighting system are pretty dumb if you choose active. My reasoning behind this is: If your team was fighting something I don't think your people would have to stop and think "Ok I want to cast lightning, let me just find it in this list, ok I got it, now let me select the person I want to cast it on." You would just know you wanted lightning and who you wanted to cast it on.

Ghosts and Goblins for the NES is pretty rough.
