Try Grandia II. Game I rented a while back when I didn't know any better, bought it not that long ago because I remembered how much I liked it, fantastic RPG game. It's for ps2, unlike half the games these idiots have suggested. Graphics might seem rough compared to todays games, but it's better than FFVII and things of that generation. It's sort of real-time combat that pauses if you set it to do so, so that you can pick your actions in battle, such as skills and items and such. Fantastic game with a great storyline, you'll play it as long as any other RPG, 50, 75+ hour. The ending made me cry. [=
Edit: Look into Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time. It was a good game, spent a long time with it, it's turn-based. I believe it's the third in the series, and it has the hardcore achievements of different endings and 400 or 500 level dungeons and things. Lots of fun. =]
