there is a game that was created by the guys who created diablo, they left blizzard and made their own studio and made a game which is very similar to diablo, but much better graphics and things, + it isnt like 10ppl max in a game it is all ppl on server - http://mythos.com/

I heard a rumor that diablo 3 was like almost finished in 2005 but that it wasnt as good as normal blizzard games and that they started all over again.
but im pretty sure that there will be a new diablo game and that we will hear of it a few months after starcraft II is released

actually no blizzard isnt making hellgate its from the makers but they split away from blizzard they are flagship studios

Blizzard is to busy caring about WoW and neglecting all its other games.
Although it sorta has started to care with new starcraft developments.

BUT if d3 did come out, it'd be kickass, unable to play on dial up, and they will charge you $40/Day to play or something insanely ridiculous.
