I highly doubt you've played "nearly all" rpgs.

Secondly, Civ 5 isn't an rpg. Nice try.

Thirdly, don't listen to anyone who tells you Fallout New Vegas is the way to go - that game is shit. Fallout 3 is better.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 1 and 2 are great rpgs, start with those first.

He was already clear on not wanting to commit 80+ hours on a JRPG~

You want me to explain why Fallout: NV was a glorious piece of fecal matter?

It was so glitchy, and still is, to this day.
Enemies didn't level with you, like they did in Fallout 3 - In the beginning of the game this is great, cause there's tough places, but later on, when you can one-shot every single enemy, it gets stale as fuck.
Did I mention it was a glitchfest?
In Fallout 3, you felt like you were accomplishing something - while in NV, you're just running around, pleasing guilds with your lips to their dicks.
The addons were mostly shit.

play on pc? i've played ~100 hours on pc without encountering glitches
on pc you can dl a mod that makes enemies to lvl with you
in fallout 3 you were basically running after your dad by following his footsteps and only thing you accomplished was when you found him, then after that you just ran around a few places and that's it
fallout 3's addons werent even that good. broken steel was good (but IMO it should have been included in original game) and point lookout was good too, but the rest (if there was more than that anchorage or w/e) werent that good
i do have NV's addons, but havent played them, so cant say anything about them.
so if he's playing on pc, the things you pointed out can be easily fixed with mods

As is the case with you and Skyrim, people are arguing about the vanilla copy released to the general public. Not everyone's looking to fuck with 20 mods to get their client to run smoothly and without bugs, they should already do that right out of the box~

...thank you Mr. Obvious. Point being, with as long as New Vegas has been out there hasn't been any patches or efforts made to fix the bugs.

not by bethesda/obsidian team, but some other modders. so point being, if he plays on pc, reason dropping NV out shouldnt be bugs, because they can be so easily patched

Try Fallout: New Vegas on PC with some mods (more quests, areas, weapons, graphics, etc)

Or try Morrowind (if you yet havent) with some mods too such as patch fix and graphics mod (all you need, rly)

Those two are the best RPGs out IMO

civ 5 is just a game i've played recently.... nice try??? what????

ive played mostly all the great rpgs in the past 20 years... that is a fact. i am an rpg fanatic.

played dark alliance 1 and 2 already and EVERY game set in the forgotten realms universe, such a big fan... icewind dale was way too hard for my tastes, though. played all elder scrolls games (3 is the best), played all fall out games ( i enjoyed NV wayy more than i did 3, what a shit ending).

i thought borderlands was boring on xbox, ill just wait for 2 i think

torchlight 2 is a possible buy but still on the fence. but yeah not out yet and no idea when it will even come out

zelda games are probably something i could get into, though not really rpg. played oot, majoras mask, and skyward sword

i just downloaded humble bundle. hopefully i can get into one of those games, bastion looks pretty cool!

by the way guys, i am a PC gamer and do not own a console any longer
