You know, I'm really the same way.  Sometimes I'd rather play a game I know is gonna be good than taking a chance on something that I've only heard would be good.

The thing that was cool about Chrono Cross, was the fact that Serge had personality even though he never said a word.  The other characters really brought him into the game and you could almost hear Serge talking even though he never said anything.  That's what I really mean when I say they mastered the art of the silent protagonist.

You couldn't be more right.

Felt like letting everybody know I started a Chrono Cross file last night. Convinced my homie to check it out, watched the intro FMV with him and said "what the hell." Nostalgia overload!

Is this your first playthrough and you're not used to the battle system or is it acting weird for you?
I'm running pSX v.1.13 and saving is kind of quirky (the directional buttons and confirm/cancel are SUPER sensitive) but I'm at least able to get a legitimate save file going. Are you running ePSXe? I scrapped that emulator and don't see any reason to go back to using it ever again.

epsxe just needs the right bios and setting then it will run almost perfectly. i havnt played crono cross on it, but I played through the final fantasy series and lunar sss and eternal blue without a hitch.

I might've just chose the wrong games. Legend of Dragoon was a pain in the ass to configure, then I beat that and start up Xenogears, and that was a pain in the ass to configure. I guess I'm just lazy and don't want to have to research every game I plan on playing and how to get it to run correctly. I'll probably tackle the Lunar series when I'm done with Chrono Cross. I remember when I was like 10 I saved up all this money to get the Eternal Blue box set, get home, and it was way too difficult for me. I think I might've cried before returning it to Hasting's. I have the Silver Star Story ISO on my computer at the moment, so might as well.

Fucking pissed off. Went to re-recruit Pip (I finally decided to step my game up and evolve him to his final devil form), headed to Guldove to fight Orlha, and as soon as he she killed him the battle froze up and I lost 40 minutes of gameplay. Was really looking forward to having a black innate Pip, but that idea has been scrapped. Onward we go.

legend of the dragoon needed like 2 extra plugins that epsxe didnt come with. LoD was like one of two psx games that had some special security thing on it.

I just don't see the point in toying with an emulator that A ) can't even swap ISO's in its current state and B ) needs actual commitment and in order to run games properly. I know with some fine tuning ePSXe can make games look better than they originally looked on the PS1, I've just had such a better, hassle-free experience with PSX 1.13. Anyways, how are you liking the game so far? My friend, who's never played it before either, is already saying it's probably his favorite RPG.
