fun game but very complicatet

i dunno how to repair the bridge.... huh.gif

I must admit it may be a bit complicated if you haven't tried a MUD before, but once you get the hang of it you'll love it smile.gif And if you need any help, just contact Nynaeve or me with a pm, or throw us a tell/mail in Deeper Trouble. Nynaeve's character name is Shikkle, and mine is as on jsp Falis

Here's a quick list of helpful commands to know.

? - Gives you a view of your character, here's an example :

Experience points : 24238923 Gold coins (gc) : 861
Hit points : 254(254) Concentration : 218(262)
Level : 28 Alignment : Demon Lord
Action : attack Reaction : riposte
Movement points : 290(290) Carry / fatigue : 51% / 0.0%
You are Prince Falis the Grand Lord of Runes (elf) [The_Undertaker 1]
You are sober.
Wimpy mode set at 130 (se).
You are a member of the group led by Falis.
Real age : 94 days 14 hours 6 minutes 14 seconds.
Mud age : 4 years, 2 months, 18 days, 19 hours and 33 minutes.

Try 'details', 'skills', 'damage' and 'stats' for further info.

Those commands shown above is also helpful, details gives you a more detailed show of your character than ? do.

"skills" gives you a list of the current skills that you know, and what level they are at (none, very bad, bad, good, very good, expert etc.)

"damage" gives you a list of how your limbs (legs arms torso head) are doing, how damaged they are.

"stats" gives you a list of your stats, here's an example:

Strength : superhuman strength
Intelligence : supernatural intelligence
Power : supernatural power
Constitution : extremely healthy
Dexterity : extremely fast and graceful
Height : 7 feet, 6 inches
Weight : 198 lb
Sanity : stable and definitely sane
Morale : none

All the commands have help files which explains how they work etc. All you gotta do is type help details for example smile.gif

Other useful commands for starters.

stand - makes you stand up
sit/rest - makes you sit down (regenerates movement points faster so you can move around again if too low)
equip - gives you a list of the items you are wearing

Some MUST TYPE ONE TIME commands for all new characters!

Config healingprompt on
Config combatprompt on

Some useful commands for all new characters, but not a must.

Config cmdcompletion on <- this makes it so that the commands you type in can be shortened and the mud will know which command you mean, for example "equip" command can be executed by typing "eq" with the cmdcompletion turned ON, if OFF you have to type the full command.

AN EXPLANATION OF PROMPT! (MUST READ!!!)

The prompt, is how your hitpoints, concentration points, movement points and a number of other things are shown. This is very customizable, and you can see a detailed explanation of the things available if you type help prompt

I will give you my prompt setup as an example, feel free to use it with your character if you want.

This is how my prompt looks like when I am out of combat: HP:255(255) SP:269(269) MP:281(281) sober ? Tank:? 24245863
HP being hitpoints
SP being spell points/concentration points/mana
MP being movement points
Sober just shows me that I have not drunk any liqour, which means my healrate / regenerate rate will be lower, it goes faster if you are drunk. Example: When sober you heal 2 hit points and 2 spell points, when drunk you heal 5 hit points and 5 spell points.
? - Will be explained when I show my "in-combat prompt"
Tank:? - Will be explained when I show my "in-combat prompt"
24245863 - This is my current experience points smile.gif

This is how my prompt looks when I am IN combat: HP:248(248) SP:164(262) MP:272(272) sober Azaghal(Perfect) Tank:Falis(Perfect) 24245863

Now, most of the things you know already. but you might be confused about the Azaghal(Perfect) but that is simply just the enemy I am fighting. And Tank:Falis(Perfect) that is the player/character who is taking the hits from the enemy.

To get my prompt you must type in the following line: prompt #ansHP:#fhp SP:#fsp MP:#fmp Drunk:#dnk Enemy:#mon Tank:#tnk #exp (I have added Enemy:#mon AND Drunk:#dnk to make it easier for newcommers to know what the specific things are.)

That should pretty much explain the prompt, you can always ask if you are confused biggrin.gif or type help prompt in-game to see the help file for prompt.

A nice command for brightening up the colors of your prompt is: pray to morgoth I LOVE THAT, the colors are so dark and boring without it smile.gif pray to morgoth turns it on and off, see which one you like best.

Right, it's getting a bit late here, so I must stop here, there are plenty more helpful things to write but I simply just don't have time right now...

I might add more later. CHECK THE GAME OUT GUYS IT'S AWESOME! And don't be spooked by all the things I have said. biggrin.gif

I play this game too, and I can warmly recommend it to anyone who wants to try it out. And I'll try to help anyone who'd like to try this game. Just pm me or contact me in Deeper Trouble if you see me online there, my character name is also Falis.

I've been playing this game on and off since 1998, it just won't die! YAY:))

I have a level 29 character, and I have spent 94 real life days playing it. (Yeah that means 24 hours x 94) tongue.gif

I hope to see you in DEEPER TROUBLE soon! smile.gif - Try it out guys, you won't be disappointed =)

Regards, Falis.

hey this is zez, tried out the game and i love it
like he said, every1 is extremely nice which is kinda creepy bc they sit down for hours teaching me how to play smile.gif
i recomend finding a version of zMud before you play smile.gif really helps
i had to get on with command prompt through telnet and was hard for me to figure out so what i did was..
typed the following
telnet
[enter]
o deepertrouble.demon.net 4242

there's how you get to the game through command prompt

once on the game you have the option to type in a username, if you don't have a username yet jsut type in one that you would like
then type in a password you would like and subscribe and you're on

some newbie commands that i've learned are:
tc - take corpse, takes items off corpse when you kill something (or when you die)
L - location, tells you where you are and what exits there are
I - shows you your inv
help map - shows you a newbie map biggrin.gif
use ticket - uses a ticket if you have one and teleports you somewhere
n - north
e - east
s - south
w - west
nw - northwest
ne - northeast
se - southeast
sw - southwest
u - up
d - down
who - shows you who is on at the time

there are free versions of zMud out there, just ask around and you might get one

on zMud when I first got on it i had no clue how to use it, but like always i found out
but to save you time here's how you do it:
scroll down the list and click on 'deeper trouble'
then in the ip part put: deepertrouble.demon.net
in the portal part (part with numbers) put: 4242
then just click on save and then click on connect
VUOLA you are connected to deepertrouble

on MUD games it's ALL text (even the map!! but it's made to look like a picture) at first i didn't understand that i would never get to see my character but the extensive descriptions of where you are, are beyond amazing!

When you first enter the game (after signing up and logging on), you will be at newbicus, the starting newbie town
from here you first need to go onto tutorial, i can't exactly remember the tutorial bc i've slept since then but i can try to give a few pointers
first, to get to the tutorial just type 'd' for down
now you gotta go through a lot of rooms but here's some things you may encounter:
to search the bag in the middle of the room type 'search bag'
to search the wall type 'search wall'
you have to get an axe somewhere but i don't remember where lol (gotta love my tutors)
Finally you enter a room with a tree and a broken bridge, chop down the tree by typing 'chop down tree' or something lol, commands aren't too hard to figure out
with the logs from the tree just type 'repair bridge'

after this you will incounter a goblin, your first battle biggrin.gif
but first you need to set up your command prompt
type: help prompt
then type '7' and press enter
then type 'Q' to quit or exit the help screen
then you have your prompt settup which will tell your hp: health, the only thing you need to know for a newbie battle smile.gif
once you set it up it will stay that way so don't worry about having to set it up again (unless you feel like changing it)

to kill the goblin just type 'kill goblin' and vuola the goblin will die
if it was for say.. a squirrel you would type 'kill squirrel' or a fox you would type 'kill fox' etc.

you go n through a few more rooms and finish the tutorial

============

how to lvl up:
you get experience for killing things, with about 1k - 1000 exp you can advance to lvl 2, but not so fast!! you have to go to the adventurers guild to level up
from newbicus you go 's' (south) a few rooms and you're in derza (think that's the name lol)
dezra is pretty much like newbie town, complete with dwelfs to kill (one of the easiest things to kill at lvl 1) and newbie shops and even a bank!
from dezra you explore some rooms and read the location explanations and finally you will see 'adventurers guild west' or whatever direction it is, go there (may have to open a door, to do so just type 'open door')
once in the adventurers guild you just type 'advance' to advance from your current level IF you have enough experience points

how to eat:
in dezra run around and look for mobius travel shop, or something named like that (not hard to find)
once in the room you type 'list' for a list of the things they're selling
you want to buy a ticket to go to olantea, so type 'buy olantea' then type 'use ticket' to go to olantea, simple, right?
once in olantea open the door and go:
e
4s
open door
e
then from here you are in a steak shop! type 'buy steak'
then type 'eat stake' and vuola you are full

==========
i would love to sit here all day and explain how to play but i really gotta go eat thanksgiving dinner so have fun playing biggrin.gif

Deepertrouble
- take your time to read this, and you won't be disappointed.

Hello all.

I would like to introduce you to a game in which i have spent more than 200 real life days playing.

What's it about? - I'll try to be brief.
This is a game, where everything happens in text. But do not let this frighten you!

As most, if not all, other RPG's it's about creating a character and improving this, chatting, grouping and much more.

What races and guilds are there?
Races:
- Human
- Elf
- Halfelf
- Halfling
- Dwarf
- Orc
- Halforc

Guilds:
- Bards
- Berserkers
- Crystals
- Runemasters
- Knights
- Priests
- Healers
- Thieves
- Sorcerers
- Monks

Each race and guild have their own unique abilities, stats, features and much more.

Advancing the levels on DeeperTrouble becomes much harder as you go.

There are 30 levels in total.
- lvl 1-20 (ordinary levels)
- lvl 21-30 (superplayer levels) These are not easily come by. This is a game that is challenging, and requires skill, unlike alot of other RPG's.
In order to reach lvl 21 or above, you need to collect, on top of money and exp, superplayer points and quest points.

You gain in addition really nice skills, spells, powers etc. as you progress in levels.
A dragon, more items, teleport, summon etc etc.

How to connect:
The simplest way is to go into your command line in windows and write the following:
telnet: deepertrouble.demon.net 4242
This is a simple client that windows already has built-in, but you can download better clients on the internet.
If you are interested in this PM me, or ask around on Deepertrouble. People are helpful there smile.gif

If this has caught your interest, you can also check out the website
http://www.deepertrouble.demon.net/

Any questions or further information are welcomed here, or in PM.

This is a free game, with volunteers who code/expand/improve the game.

The last thing to encourage people trying it out, I will award 100 FG to everyone who reaches minimum level 15. You will not regret trying this game, as it is in truth quite amazing, and different from what most are used to.

Kind regards Nynaeve - (on deepertrouble, Shikkle).

Hell for 100 fg id play any game ill get started on this later today =D
