I picked up a copy of VX Ace. This is the latest of the RPGmaker series (I'm pretty sure).
I would like people to post there ideas for RPGmaker VX Ace or any in the series.
There will be threads in the GFX forums and the Programing Heaven.
This thread is for people to either share their games, story line, ideas, of likes/dislikes in rpgs
I know this seems more of a general rpg thread since that what RPGmaker is all about.

I have a bit of programing background, never used rtp (or what ever they call this language.) Most scripts can be downloaded simply copy and paste. Then you need to tweek them... but most can be done with events.
PLEASE don't post scripts or event "codeing" as that belongs in another section. Same goes for graphics
It is ok. if it is a relevant idea/question but i don't need people posting lines of code or like 600 images

My background in rpgs is oldschool, I'm a NES Dragon quest/zelda/FF player... the whole 'middle ages' style is my favorite. (PLEASE don't say "Back in those days" because lets be honest, magic, goblins, and undead where "back in those days")

I'm currently working on a games set in my Dungeons and Dragons world. Basically same classes/magic/items right from D&D sources(Books, dragon magazine, what I wrote, and more).
As far as Player Characters, I'm using the characters that my friends came up with to play our games of D&D.
Npcs and maps, that is all from my head.

Give me quest/story ideas, either ripped off a game or your own. (please note the source encase i need to contact/credit them in my game).

http://norse-mythology.org/cosmology/the-nine-worlds/helheim/

I have always wanted to see a game based on Norse Mythologies "HelHeim" which is basically their version of Hell and its different areas and such....
I think it would work perfect for a dark style rpg game...

if you read up on it, they believed that EVERYONE went to HelHeim after they died... so maybe the beginning of the game starts out where the main character dies or something and wakes up in "HelHeim" where he joins with other people who have died

I read the article and do have some background in some norse mythologies... mainly the gods, or Odin, Yggdrasil. Lots of this blends well with my style. I feel to get any more out of it i would have to really read up on stories. HelHeim is unknown to me. I mean a chicken being chucked over a wall... well... i guess its ok because its head was cut off. Looks cool, but i already used a Dante's inferno /d&d relem settings for my 'Lower plains'
Thanks for the post.
I did enjoy the read.

ya norse mythology has alot of great characters in it... just an idea because I have never seen HelHeim used in videogames before... I think it has 4 levels to it which are very hot like fire hellish scenes, and the other 4 levels are extremely cold icy and barren....

I guess it's true that many stories are rip offs of older ones, because the plains out lined in the 'world' i have is 8 'level' 'sections' 'layers' or what ever. I call them planes. Every thing has a similar overtone of death, pain, and hopelessness. It stretches the realms of deserts, to lakes and rivers of blood, to lava rocks with fires, or w/e. But the last demi-plane only few have traveled... what lies there twists and burns at every soul for ever and ever.

I would like to point out that the use of cold icy barrons for a hell-ish area is refreshing

Just wondering what you guys/gals think about blacksmithing/crafting systems.
So far I'm implementing a blacksmith for weapons and another for armor.
Normally I prefer the idea of finding ore and cash, go to your bud say "This is what i got, make me something cool." He says "you have that? I can make this." This is the style of script I'm using and this is easyer to make.
However in some games you can "enhance items" it could be + to atk or dmg or elemental attack, some even have the chances of shattering the item or downgrading it.
I know I could use both, but that seems like over kill and it would make serious balance issues. (i could use a random feature to make sure you cant milk one stat)

How important is "crafting"? I HATE having to rune to like 4 areas all over the map to find a certain creature that has a certain drop that happens only sometimes, then get like 12 of them for each place.... by the end i feel just like chucking my controller at the TV. Grinding can be bad but its ok sometimes. I hate grinding just to get the chance to get something that is a tiny part of something bigger.
What i mean by this "crafting" would be for things like "potions" "mana recovery items" and the such... not really a REPLACE for black smith. Could always make blacksmithing part of the craft system?

What you people think?

crafting needs to be as close to "Sword Art Online" as possible

I've never played any of those games. Which one are you talking about? Can you give me a brief overview?
I looked on wiki but couldn't find it.

no Sword Art Online is an anime about people being stuck inside an mmorpg until they can finish the game
