Curious what’s in store for Spiral Knights? Here are some of the things we’ve got in development. As always these are not the only things that are in the works and there is no ETA for any of this just yet.

Clockworks Update
We will be releasing an update to the Clockworks that includes a revamped Crash Site, new Danger Rooms, and a new level series, the Candlestick Keep.

Revamped Crash Site
While probably not very exciting to current players, we’re changing the Crash Site level in hopes of making it a more streamlined and engaging experience.

New Danger Rooms
We keep sending interns into our new Danger Rooms for testing, but they’re soon never heard form again. It has made testing them challenging. In any case we’ll be offering some new, very devious Danger Rooms for brave and/or foolish Knights to challenge. Some of them are just mean. Consider it a warning.

Candlestick Keep
A new level series will be making its debut with the Clockworks Update called ‘Candlestick Keep.’ The Candlestick Keep is all that remains of the Owlite Academy, a once prosperous institution of the wise Owlites that pursued the advancement of goodly magical arts. However, the savage Kat Tribe, driven by jealousy of the Owlite’s wisdom and elemental powers, lead a massive siege on the Academy. Though successful in overtaking the Academy and destroying most of the Owlites within, the impulsive Kats quickly obliterated themselves by misusing the ancient grimoires found within the great library. Now all that remains are the spookats, lacking their corporeal forms, their minds, but still bound to this world.

Candlestick Keep is a dark and foreboding place that requires Knights light magical Owlite ward candles. Knights must stay in the light and keep the flames burning. For within the dark lurk the most horrible of spookat aberrations, the terrible grimalkins- massive, shadowy kats that cannot be harmed by any known means. The only way to avoid them is to stay in the light!

Lockdown
We’re very excited about Lockdown. It offers players the chance to face off against each other in true, weapon-based combat. But of course, there’s more to it!

Lockdown takes place over large battlefields where opposing teams attempt to gain and hold control points scattered about the battlefield. You’re free to use whatever equipment you like as you team up and battle for dominance. But there’s another feature we have in store that will make the experience very interesting- each team’s base has special class shields that a player can instantly equip. These class shields build give you bonus stats as well as special abilities. For example, a guardian shield will protect you and your fellow teammates when activated!

Loadouts
Want to equip a certain set of gear fast? We’re adding a new feature that allows players to save out an equipment set for fast-equipping later called ‘loadouts.’ Loadouts will play an important role in Coliseum games like Lockdown.

...and something only for the very bravest of Knights
We’re working on some very special content that is only for the most skilled, highest level Knights out there. These levels will really test even the best of players and offer unique rewards. Get that 5* gear ready!

I just started like 20 minutes ago.
Is anyone willing to guide me a bit in game? I figured out how to find and use the elevators etc, but the gear system etc is sort of confusing still

you level up in the game based on gear and not on character.

There are 3 tiers/6 spectrums throughout the elevator, each being different and some with end tier bosses

To proceed to the next tier you must have certain gear completed.

To get into tier 2 i believe you need 2 star gear for helm, weapon, shield,and armor and at least 25 tier one levels done
To get into tier 3 i believe you need to have all 4 star gear

Your equipment are leveled up base on how much heat you obtain throughout the levels and the item maxes out at lvl 10 except for trinkets/modules/etc
Some gear has a series, meaning an item can upgrade from say 2star up to 5 star item. ie Calibur series. There are also some items that can split into different routes within a series. ie: Calibur Leviathan or Cold Iron Vanquisher
Items are crafted into the next part of the series by buying recipes from Basil or the Auction House and finding materials throughout the game.
