Send your workers to mine and immediately build 2 more while sending the ghoul to chop wood
Build Crypt and Graveyard first
Once you have enough gold build a zig next
Once you have enough gold build an altar
Once your crypt is finished, make a ghoul, when that ghoul is finished your graveyard should be too. from this point on just pump fiends (building zigs as necessary)
once my food is at 28/30 i upgrade to halls of dead, then get some necros
things to remember...
undead can't creep as fast as ne can (initially) because you need fiends (ghouls are a huge risk vs. NE if they choose to mass hunts early)
make a frost tower early so if your dumbass opponent chooses to hero rush they either
a. waste their time and have to retreat
b. lose their hero
c. waste a tp
if you see the opponent hunt rushing you at some point when you only have like 4 odd fiends, try to catch it early and tower up. ud towers are cheap and effective and don't take too long
lich is my fav. hero vs. night elf (fucks up archers, hunts, bears all pretty well)
if you don't win early-mid game and the game gets to late game strategy. fiends, necs, and frosts wyrms ftw. your opponent will try to make a mess out of your air units and you can just heal it with your dk (frosts are great tanks). before you know it their whole army will be taken out while they just try and take out a frost
just remember that your dk can't compete 1vs1 with his dh. your dk is more for support, so i always keep healing pots/scrolls/invinc pots on my dk in case they try and focus me. i usually prefer that they do because even if they get close to killing my guy, his army will be completely stomped by that point. meet me in game sometime and ill help you more
