is it more useful to click right infront of you when you hook? my pudge keeps moving towards the enemy if i try to hook them directly

Hooking is more of an acquired skill. When aiming, click a bit ahead of pudge, a quarter of the hook distance or so. Never click right next to pudge unless that's where your hook is going.

Get a version switcher, patch down to 1.23, and grab Bengal_Tigger's Practice Your Pudge map. It has various exercies, ranging from simple stuff like a plain moving target, to blind estimated hooks, to hooks through moving creep waves. Its helpful and actually pretty fun to play now and then.

well, i'm a pudge/mirana fan, but all i can advice you is to do more practice

if the enemy is creeping than aim the hook right where the enemy hero is standing (except if he counts you and moving )
always predict the enemy's movements
you should also count his movement speed

and watch youtube videos/replays
they helps you much

Just practice doing hooks.

Never click on the target unless it's a point blank hook while you're biting down on someone. Even then better not just aim on him.

And most important of all: NEVER EVER click on a target when u hook.

Also necron is a good item on him: hook/rot/necron/dismember, use minions to fuck enemy up. Dagon is easier to use adds some nice damage to your combo and gives mana.

Do your best to never be seen, a good pudge is like a ninja, try to be unexpected, hide in the forest, and when you gank other lanes try to be subtle about it. There will be times when you cannot take a subtle approach, either charge and hook quickly, or let them make a move and hook. Sometimes you won't even need to hook, just charge and as they try to dodge, the distance between the two of you will shorten until you can just rot eat them and hook them afterwards. Always buy bottle first. Next grab some phase boots as pudge uses the move speed very well, some may try to go BoT instead but I find that this delays your HoT and really ruins your late game if it ever gets to that point.
