i downloaded it into my wc3 replays folder and then i tried to run it with wc3. it didn't work so obviously i'm doing something wrong

yea i saved the replay into the folder, and tried to do that, but it doesn't work. says invalid file type or something

I guess its a wrong game version.

If I recall, u cant watch replays that have been recorded with different(older) versions of WC than yours

yes it must be a recent replay. at least from after the last time they patched wc3. dont remember when that was though.

It must be the right war3 version AND you have to have the map in the exact folders its asking for in the error. For example i downloaded maps and put them just in the maps folder but it wasnt working because they needed to be in Maps/Ngl/Season6. Its picky like that but basically if u have to just make new folders with the right name and put ur maps in there and it should work. O and if the place u downloaded the replay from doesnt have a spot to download the map to ur kinda screwed because ur not gonna be able to find the map on the internet very easily.
