Obviously some heroes are not balanced yet but it is beta still.

You just said the keyword... it's in a CLOSED beta still. When the balance work gets done and the larger hero pool gets there, this game will have an immense competitive environment.

thats because it is a rip off a dota and thats all you have to say. its almost a mirror image of it for crying out loud. obviously the game designer didnt have any creativity of his own to develop a unique game so he had to leech off some other game to make his own. so IMHO, hon is a rip off. its just a generic version of dota.

Obviously, they set out to make the gameplay exactly the same only take it to a level that wasn't possible with a wc3 map. And, to be perfectly honest, they succeeded. I was skeptical but after just trying HoN, just... wow. I love it. Still some balancing to do, but that's to be expected in beta.

Anyone mind explaining to me how a game where you add heroes that butcher the moment-to-moment decisionmaking that's pretty much the core of dota as it is now /=/ better than dota? Maybe if you're playing .37 or .48b when the game was a simple game you'd think so, but as it is now I think it's going to take years of balancing to be at a remotely similar level for competative play, not to mention the public community that only wants more, more, more, MORE content. . .

All I can say is that you're right, for now. The game is in CLOSED BETA, please remember that. The hero pool is currently not large enough, the balance is not there and is not suited for competitive play yet.

Closed beta had a population of around 50k~ players during the afternoon. When the game see's open beta the population will grow, and when it reaches release it will explode. Because at that point the game will be balanced and the hero pool way larger, hopefully.

Hopefully? This entirely depends on the developers ability to create a good game. They simply replicated a DotA with better graphics and removed some of the core aspects of the game which are no longer as prominent as it was in DotA. As of now, they have done nothing but make the game even worse than what it was.

Enlighten me, which core aspects are you talking about more specifically.
