Archmage + Beastmaster + Firelord

Or there's a lot of archmage tri-hero combos that are really really fun.

As for undead... I enjoy going lich first, and then no second hero (or possibly something like the tinker for aoe stuns), and in solo I usually get banshees & tier 3 fast so I can do a quick army swap by taking control of a lot of units... the frost nova is just so leet for focus firing heros.
