The one guy is right about every game being different but you can usually stick with a pretty similar build for nearly every game...you have to read the other teams heroes and what your team needs the most...

I like:
bracers to start
treads (type depends on game once again)
bloodstone
deso

this has worked for me...maybe not for everyone...but its good to get a lot of opinions and the dota guides are never any good...
note: I haven't played since 6.60 so somethings might be better than this that I dont' know about
