sc2 is awesome. I love the huge fluid battles. It is definitely a nice upgrade to wc3 as far as mechanics go. I kind of miss the heroes, but the gameplay is really good.
As for anyone complaining about the campaign, I question anyones judging an rts for its story. If I wanted to jump through boring hoops and solve lame puzzles I would play WOW. No Offense.
I recommend getting sc2 until d3 comes out in 2013. It is new and newer is better.

Warcraft is for those who like RTS, but who cant play macro/micro well enough for Starcraft.. so they need units with 100+ hp so they can watch tv while moving single units every 20 sec.
wow PVM is for ppl with alot of time ... wow PVP is for ppl with skills

Dota... starcraft with 1 unit and no buildings...
Best pvp game of all time - Only reason there's not too many people playing is that it simply is owned by buggers and new games with better graphic.
The pvp in d2 is simply unique
And regarding wow pvp, you can easily get 2100+ without even using any braincells.
Honestly my bros littlebrother had 2k back in tbc with resto / warr setup... he's 12
