Hon > Dota > Lol Too...
LoL is WAY too cartoonish, gotta pay for new heroes (I remember somewhere it would be a few bucks every heroes). HoN Kept EXACT DotA gameplay, graphics are nice, effects are nice, they plan on having a 100+ Hero pools. Already tons of DotA hero ports, I mean the game is still in closed Beta stage and there are already MANY competitive tournaments going on. As soon as the game reaches release, S2games are hosting a 10,000$ tournament themselves.
I used to be a DotA Fanboy, not willing to try HoN, but my friends kept bugging me and I finally tried it. Since then I just cannot go back to DotA, the graphics I once considered good now looks terrible, the gameplay seems slower, etc.
You really have to try it to see what i'm talking about. All those DotA Fanboys out there that are not willing to switch, just give HoN one or two games. You'll see what i'm talking about.
Edit : Some functionalities that HoN offers
----------------------------------------------------
Game reconnections (Connection drops? Just rejoin that game!)
In-built stats tracking (ward placements, consumables, easy game percentage played and MUCH more)
In-built ladder rankings.
Custom map editor (The SDK version will be EXTREMELY versatile, basically you could just do any game with it. the map editor is NOT YET out!)
Match-making system (Let the game find valuable opponents for you, of same skill levels. Might it be alone or with a group of friend.)
Leaver protection system (Make no-leavers only games! No more pesky leavers ruining the games for you.)
Client-Server netcode (Americans versus Europeans using official S2 servers Lag-free? Not a myth, reality!)
Re-Bindable hotkeys (No need to look for alternate ways to change it in warcraft3, EVERY key is rebindable!)
Built-In VOIP (You want to talk to your pubs with a Mic? Just press a button and start talking, just like you would do in Ventrilo. You can even choose to talk to the whole map, or just your own lane!)
All those DotA fanboys out there, play one or two games of Heroes of Newerth, you will never want to go back.
Great job pointing out all the good things about the game, but you fail to mention anything about the gameplay itself. I couldn't care less about rankings or graphics. I've already played multiple games of HoN and is terrible in my opinion. It's a replication of DotA, but it's not far enough from DotA or close enough to DotA which kills it.
