In higher tier matchups, to name a few, in places like - NAIHL, scrims, IHCS, and some other places, Venge is seldom picked - although when picked, it's used as a strong support hero - usually found Roaming, or babysitting a carry hero. pm me if you want a clarification on any terms
Usually for the support, venge would get stuff like magic stick, phase boots, some bracers, and observer/sentry wards throughout the rest of the game.
In the less serious games, you can choose to carry with venge - I've faced one which was extremely strong. I'd recommend Manta over all else, perhaps diffusal for orb, but dominator seems work fine as well.
