hunger is to force them to hit a creep therefore stepping in range of your helix + taunt (melee heroes ofc)

and you can deny the creep they are about to last hit thereby screwing them over. they take hunger dmg, helix dmg if u right click on em and creeps chase after you + hit u and even more if you can land a taunt.

doesn't work so hot against skilled ranged opponents though

it is also a nice finisher on an opponent who is about to escape and a good harrassment skill when the creep waves have just arrived

Easiest / Best lane tbh is the lane where you are closest to the tower. (Sentinel = Bot) (Scourge = Top) <-- If you want a good start, choose the lane with the tower closest to you. Let your lane mate creep block, (Dont solo with axe) and then go and tank the first lane of opponents creeps if the team your facing is not 2 stunners ofcourse / 2 brutal good range, (Than you are fucked).

BTW; You can use hunger instead of call. Its very usefull aswell if you know how to use it.

And TIP: never buy 2 vanguards, its waste and they do not stack like u think. It wont be over 100% block.
It will be 2x 65%. Which is same as 1 but greater block.

Good way is to buy 1 Vanguard and one Stout shield in Start game. 2 Stout shields in early game is usefull.

Trying to justify getting hunger is a joke.

Early game, you HAVE to max call ASAP, at least in games when you are playing against competent opponents. A disable is much better than a DoT that can easily countered by a competent last hitter. Even a melee hero can run in and just deny his ranged creep or something, so the argument that making them last hit forces them to take helix damage is not necessarily true.

If you pass up putting points in call early just to get hunger, you are ruining your chance to get several kills with your team. If you put points in hunger later, fine, but it gets sort of worthless later anyway since people can last hit much easier as the game progresses. Also, axe has a shitty mana pool and has trouble getting enough mana to blink + call + cull several times before having to go to fountain. Stats are very useful in this area, which is why you should take them over hunger later.

Of course, in pubs if you want to get hunger go for it, I'm mainly talking about a higher level of play. In pubs there is not much teamwork involved, so hunger is great, but in higher levels of play teamwork is key and call is much better in this aspect.

btw lvl 1 hunger is ok to get at lvl 10, because when they have it turned on they cant use their bottle. this is useful when you are chasing someone on like 2~300 hp and you think you or your team might catch up to them.. denying them of their 3 bottle charges is nice! :)

lol at all the noobs dissing hunger. they read 1 axe guide on a shitty dota site and they all the sudden think they know everything.

625 damage DoT useless? What about in team battle, you gonna go last hit/deny a creep in a teambattle?
