Well, the truth be told i haven't played much starcraft, certainly not on battle.net. But i do know that the oportunities for mapmaking in Warcraft goes far beyond the oportunities in starcraft. I just hope that starcraft 2 will have the same/better mapmaking system.

i heard that blizzard is working with the makers of DotA to help truly make the mapmaking system customizable (including heroes and such, so the starcraft 2 custom games might even go beyond warcraft 3!)

and i wasn't being ignorant, i was just stating my preference in terms of ladder games

i DO agree that warcraft 3's custom games come no where close to starcraft's, though i did have fun with starcraft custom maps back in the day

I play wc3 over sc simply because of the custom game variety.

warcraft came out in 1995 around the same time as diablo
warcraft 3 on the other hand came out in 2005

You can't really compare them because they both have a lot of different qualities like an orange vs a banana.
They probably have different custom games so it depends what you like.
