Yes, and I remember the version where there was a secret code that could be entered where one could secretly change the stats, speed, etc. of all the players and bosses.

It was somewhat fun, but often there would need to be restrictions on what heroes could be picked, which were frequently violated. Some heroes were just so strong that they ruined the game.
