Typically, a couple of bracers and guinsoos is your best bet. Orchid COULD work, but guinsoos is better. Necro book is also a great item for furion, as it adds too his pushing power and it synergies with all of his abilities very well. Either guinsoo or necro, depending on the circumstances, should be your major item.

Boot choice will depend on the game. If you're pushing like crazy, BoT might be worthwhile. Treads are the old standby, but I admit, I haven't tried phase on him.

I disagree with this significantly. Although it depends upon your competition -- TDA, clan, public, etc. -- I have consistently mega-trashed with furion with this:

start: 3 gaunts of strg and consummables
first items: boots of tele and bloodstone

--- You port around and farm your bumm off --

then: desolator and finish strength treads

after that; you can boost your DPS with any various items -- hyperstones, orchid, crit stick, all of the above.

as long as your opponents do not have extensive nukes/disables, you will dominate the field; pushing lanes, porting on people for ganks, etc..

I believe I have a replay of me doing this to the max extent (like 23-0 or something); PM me an e-mail if you want it.

Bloodstone is a waste because furion doesn't need to tank and he doesn't need to spam. He also has no damage to speak of besides his ulti. Why tank up if no one is going to hit you anyways? You might as well get heart if you want a ton of HPs. He's more of a pusher, with jungling capabilities. If you want to semi-carry with him, str treads followed up by deso/orchid, but for the most part, he does better with support items.

Savior323. I would trash this guy in DotA; and I'm guessing ContortedEventz would too; because he really is not sufficiently familiar enough with this game.

That was quite rude, especially since you didn't give a reason. I at least told you why I disagreed with your build.

My skill level isn't in question here; that is an ad hominem, a logical fallacy.

I stand by my statements, and I can dig up some competitive replays of the typical furion build and lineup he's used in, to back up my claims. Pub stomps with randhat builds are all fine and dandy, but when someone asks for a build, I give them the more or less standard, optimal, build, not what happened to work for me in a pub. I don't find the semi-carryish Furion to be too bad, but he really isn't that great, and bloodstone as a major item, with no damage boost, is a bad idea, unless you plan on Ksing a lot to feed you past the nearly 8k you've already spent on items.

rudeness aside...i would sum up bombpopbob2 as a very agressive player and site member...which is why his build is agressive....and i would describe your build as delicate...as you would like to sit about and click extra item slots...hand in hand both of these builds could work...or not work given the proper circumstances

It was rude; my bad.

But if you are playing competitve DotA in a non-EM game. It is going to be over 40 minutes before you hit mid-game. By that time; the guy that has farmed the most efficiently is the guy that is going to be most successful (if you level the playing field and assume that everyone's "skill" is equal). In this case, you will put 1 point into teleport, 1 into the tree lock, and then max the farming skills. In this case, you would need a significant amount of mana regen -- noting, of course, the low CD's on these farming skills.

When figuring out what builds to go with in DotA, your first hint should be to look at how the skills were set up. Furion has ZERO nukes, THREE skills that help him farm, and then one skill that is not even a "disable," but which holds an enemy in a spot for a significantly long period of time, at a distance from which only a ranged hero could destroy. In order to take advantage of this combination, one would use the skills to rake in gold to stack DPS, and then use that DPS to kill. If you want a flaming support hero pick one. This is CLEARLY not one.

Lastly, Bloodstone is NEVER purchased for the primary purpose of increasing a hero's maximum life. It is ALWAYS purchased for the primary purpose of increasing mana and life regen, the increased life and mana, etc. stats, are added bonuses. The regen is what makes furion a hero that can go an entire game, only returning to town several times.

And PLEASE, give me a link to a VIDEO where the support build has been recognized as widely accepted or even valuable.

Here are several that I just grabbed in a matter of seconds on youtube. In each, Furion is highlighted as TRASHING with a DPS build.
