do you need non expansion to play expansion
i have a friend who is going to give me cd key so i can put on battle net and download from there

If you are going to play the full version (with expansion pack), then you need a Reign of Chaos cd-key and a Frozen Throne cd-key. You have to install the original first, and then the expansion pack second (if you are using the cd's).

There is absolutely no monthly fee applied to this game.

Just remember that both your original and expansion cd-key are active when you are online. This means no one else can use those cd-keys (or else one of you won't be able to log on). Of course this is specific to each realm (so one person could be on east while the other is on west with identical keys).

You do if you want to play online with the expansion pack features. You can play with just the original, but you're limited to only the original (which isn't worth it).

Mostly it's just sold as a package now. But it's cheap; should be $30. $40 max, but should be able to find it for $30. That way you have your own clean cd-keys and cd's for installation.

But yeh I don't think you can get it separate anymore.
