advice on how to get apms up?

Play more

force it until it becomes useful fluent apm. spam like crazy.

if you want to feel like you are good go this way
but if you actually want to get good, just play more. Learn build, force yourself to do more and more tasks at once (like dropping or controlling units and going back home building raxes/whatever production, jumping back, keep microing, jump back, macro, jump back micro) try to attack on multiple fronts, try to watch your minimap more etc
just play the game and practice doing this, apm will come, it's pretty stupid to do useless spam in the game (its ok at the start when you don't have to do anything else, just to warm up) because you'll just rush your stuff and fuck it up. Precision > speed.

Spam as in get used to clicking and moving around quickly. During decision making times go as fast or slow as you have to in order to do what you want to do but you have to force yourself to play faster otherwise you'll get complacent with your slow playstyle and get stuck in low masters.

switched to zerg, apms nearly doubled from 60 to 110, have people adding me and envying me and my army graphs often skyrocket (double-triple) over others. holy shit
