It feels that there is a lack of any type of relevant posts here as of late, so I've taken the initiative to jump-start(hopefully) the discussions leading up to Legacy Of The Void. First, let me type up a copy of the official announcement from blizzard in regards to the above title:

All things must come to an end (hopefully that includes the two expansion zerg supremacy) -- but with the psionic power of the Protoss on your side, fear is an illusion(guessing they refer to PvT). Guide the Protoss as they struggle(good word they used here, basically any PvZ) to unite the three races in the ultimate battle for survival against an ancient evil threatening all life in the universe. (No surprise here - obviously its all fun and games but in the end its the Protoss that does all the work) Experience the epic conclusion to the StarCraft II trilogy and find out who perseveres in the face of adversity.

Apparently its not an expansion but a standalone product, dont need the prior one to play it fully.

39.99 for standard edition,
59.99 for digital deluxe edition
-apparently 3 unique protoss portraits, one somewhat looks ok other uglier than Derek's micro,
- a skin for a unit that looks like the adept,
For wow theres an archon pet looks kind of weird, for Diablo there is a Protoss transmog and for hearstone theres a protoss back.
Oh yea, and there is a void seeker mount for heroes of the storm.

Supposedly there will also be a Collector's Edition;
"Legacy of the Void will also be available in a retail-exclusive Collector’s Edition, which comes equipped with the digital bonus items from the Digital Deluxe Edition, as well as a special edition of the upcoming full-color hardcover StarCraft Field Manual (retail edition SRP $45); a DVD loaded with cinematics and special features; and a CD soundtrack. The Collector’s Edition will be available at select retailers for a suggested retail price of $79.99. "

Having browsed gamestop to order one I was unable to find it yet, guessing it will become available in a bit.

As you may or may not know, they adding the Archon mode,
some sort of Allied Commanders cooperative mode,
6 more units, 2 for each race. Unfortunately, I'm sure nobody is surprised by this, zerg gets the best ones.

Oh yea, and theres some missions available for preordering that are supposed to give u a prologue to the Protoss expansion.

I'm very excited for this hopefully the people who were once active here are as well. It would be awesome if we could bring back the environment we had here during the initial Wings release, back when playing Starcraft 2 was cool.
Its sad to log on just to see people playing MOBAS all day (Chris) or the numerous people here who have switched over to the said genre to become LOL pros.
I also hope that people who claim to play this game still (Rick) will actually start playing real ladder instead of full-time zealot hockey.

I'm quite excited (I'm still active on eu ladder though, i switched to random not too long ago, top 8 masters atm).
The beta feels way too fuzzy so far. I feel like there are way too many options available? or I don't know, it feels really strange to play. I like Blizzard's idea though. Making the game more micro intensive is always good. There will be more room to differentiate between player levels. Like right now there is very little (hard to achieve though) between a really good protoss and a medicore protoss. I like all the new units to be honest. The cyclone is really cool. Not sure about the liberator though, didn't really play the beta since it was added, but I'm quite sure it'll be changed a lot for the final version so it doesn't really matter, I like that it adds a possibility of going full air from the beginning as terran, seems like an exciting idea. I like how they nerfed the colossus and protoss armies will be less deathballish with it being less relevant. The disruptor is a nice way of differentiating between player levels, it's really hard to use and it pays off if you do it right. The lurker is nice, needs no introduction though. The ravager feels nice too, i just hope they will not fuck it up, 1 base ravager rushes were silly before the nerf. I like most of the changes, like the medivac siege tank drop is reaalllly cool and fun.
However I think Blizz needs to rethink their marketing strategy to reach more people with their game. I think they should sell lotv cheap as fuck, like csgo with micro transactions in the game. Like voice packs (abathur, raynor, whatever you can imagine), maybe remastered brood war voice packs, and ingame unit portraits, do you guys remember how cool brood war protoss was compared to the one in sc2? Interface skins customizing, unit decals, maybe pickable colors @ ladder? Subtle unit/building skins also work imo.

Also, I'm not sure about the economy changes. Maybe they should do something with the gases too.

#1 Heroes of the Storm player here

The beta was fun in the beginning- though I wasn't too happy when they nerfed cyclone into irrelevancy. And the new ghost ability (before this recent patch) was a complete and utter joke.

Also the new chat channels are fucking terrible - you can't even see if people are in-game. Idk why blizzard is so useless at giving people what they ask for.

Of course it can. All it will take is for the old active and interesting individuals to come back and try to read/post something on a daily basis. It would require very little effort and slight time commitment but the whole forum would start to come alive.

I suppose one way that the forum could also come together is if we all switched to zerg in LOTV. That way, not only would we all be very high up on the ladder, we would come back here and discuss and reflect on how fun and cool the game plus how good we are.

We can do it friends, I believe we can.

e; Very good post Captain Eu, I meant to post that earlier but didn't have a chance. Again, excellent post.

The WoL days made this subforum super popular because at the time it was THE game to play but that's not the case anymore. People like team games because they're easier and now games like LoL exist so games like SC2 will always be less popular. People watch games that they play. LotV would have to go free to play and then pay the masses to play this game for this subforum to be as active as it used to be. Even I don't play this game that much anymore.

Just play super safe. 15 pool, hatch gas, speed baneling nest as soon as you can afford it, third base fast roach warren w/ upgrades and then respond to mutas w/ spores/infestors if they go muta. roach vs roach is the most basic shit ever
