alright I'll break it down into a few steps. this is all assuming you play mostly standard:

step 1: get faster, like 150 more apm than you currently have
step 2: avoid fighting off creep when at all possible (if you have bad creep spread your problems are more complicated)
step 3: always try to set off mines by sending in 4-6 lings and a couple banelings while move commanding the banelings into clumps of marines. doing this often will set off mines and punish terrans for not paying attention to their army
step 4: when a full army vs army fight becomes inevitable, use your flock of mutas to kill the marines the terran player separates from the main clump of the army and also to pick off mines beforehand. when at all possible, spread out your units when a mine is going off and be careful not to clump up things while engaging. don't allow your banelings to detonate on things like marauders and tanks or even isolated marines when at all possible. try to make them detonate on 2-3+ marines at a time.
step 5: glancing at your minimap often combined with great overlord spread will make terran drops a lot easier to deal with
step 6: get more apm
step 7: don't get behind in upgrades. it's easy to get locked in 2-2 upgrades vs terran's 3-3 upgrades but assuming the game is going well enough, that's by no means something you should just do every game. getting the infestation pit + hive + 3/3 + ultralisks is always preferable when possible.

if any of this seems like it's too much you can always pick protoss.

The protoss option allows you to potentially beat a 3-3 terran with 0-1-0 ups.

It's wonderful :).

Its very frustrating watching pro games where zergs never even drop an infestation pit when ahead then start getting rekt when terrain gets 3-3

what if

skip all steps
and do step 7 at 5min mark
so you have swarmhost at 6.30mark
and you use spore to locate mines
and creep
and free locusts will destroy mines/marines

so when he finaly got tanks
you release Bio-air

he doesn't even need tanks to beat you. he will have nearly twice your economy by the 7 minute mark and he will just overwhelm you.

Life pretty much single handedly made that work because he's just relentless aggressive all the time. The whole concept of "when you're ahead, get more ahead" just isn't something he cares about. To him, its more like "when you're ahead or have an opening, KILL HIM RIGHT NOW".

Watch Life's games, for example against maru in the last IEM, he ALWAYS send like 5-6 zerglings + 5-6 banelings, like all the time just to clean out marines and mines, and he does that all game long, he never first engage with his whole army.

And he's not doing it by mistake if you watch it clearfully, cause casters tend to say that he's not paying attention to it, but infact he does.

Don't lose any mutalisks if possible, try to mass them, when you have a critic number of it, you go to his main pretty easily and destroy his economy, productions and can defend his push with the same way i told you earlier, few banes-lings.

Also if you have a good economy you can defend with only banelings as he'll be so busy defending his natural that you can trade him quite easily. If you can defend the first push at 8-10 minutes, then you're really fine to do w/e you wants.
