It's been a long time since I tried to set-up streaming, I remember it being an abysmal failure on my old computer. But I've got a little bit of a beefier machine now, and I was wondering what do you guys mostly use, or recommend for me?

Use OBS and try to test bitrates between 1000-2000. It's also important to make sure your internet is up to par with your stream settings, so do a speedtest and set accordingly. Make sure you set your resolution to either 640x480, 1280x720, or 1920x1080 - the quality being the 2nd half the numbers, 480p,720p,1080p. Oh and before you stream, you will need a stream key, in which you enter into OBS, you can find it at www.Twitch.tv/dashboard.

I'm not really a computer expert by any means, I know just the basics. Currently running a Geforce 550 Ti, what should I look to upgrade next? I just put in my Solid State harddrive I got for xmas.

streaming is CPU intensive so your graphics card doesn't really matter, especially with a game like starcraft 2

what is your CPU?
