i quit sc2 before HoTS, i remember i used to play fun mod where you get a hero that you level up and some sort of building in your base that constantly produces units. If i remember correctly i could buy different items for my hero as i level up

any idea what its called and if i can still play it with out buying HoTS ?

I'm pretty sure either next patch or next few patches arcade will be free, if you can hold out that long and only want to play arcade games you wont need to buy hots.

or you can spend a measly $20 on hots and be happy...
