Thinking about getting this, however I never played Starcraft.

Was huge into Warcraft 3, and I was pretty good.

Few questions if someone would be so awesome to answer..

1. Would it be an easy transition? From WC3 - SC2?

2. In WC3 you pretty much played vs a melting pot of people, and sometimes you would end up getting spanked because you got matched with someone who is like 400-30. Is there a ranking system that matches you with people your skill level?

3. Hows the balance?

4. How hard is the learning curve? WC3 it took me about a year to be good...

5. How is the community? I know there's going to be the cocky people who think ( and probably can ) that they can smash everybody in a 1v1.. But are there generally people who don't mind helping you + constructive criticism?

6. Is the game worth it? ( general question )

Sorry for the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, just don't want to regret the purchase :P

Many WC3 pro's have moved to SC2 and done very well.

I'm sure you would enjoy it.

Just play protoss.

does 60$ really require that much research before spending?

how much is that amount of money to you

how much time do you intend to play before you justify that the $ was worth it?

Yeah I watched grubby transition, but my thought is.. they are pro's.. the RTS scene is just absolutely natural to them, and a lot of them played SC1

Not much money at all. However if somebody offered you 60$, would you take it?

That's actually a good question. I don't even know how to answer that really.

bigger learning curve than wc3 because there are more maps that change every season with more diverse strategies

your units also die a lot faster so while your army doesnt require as much attention as a wc3 army, its a lot more delicate and things can go sour a lot faster in this game

good, big community, plenty of nice people and plenty of people that say they can beat you but will never play you (Nevada forever anonymous for example)

its quite balanced and its worth the money

Thanks for the good answer.

So I'm assuming it's more about countering / macro rather than countering / micro then?

The maps part I would hate, WC3 had like 5 main maps which were simple and straight forward..

yes macro is a big part of this game

thats to say, this game actually requires some macro

chances are you will get a hang of microing an army pretty quickly but learning safe builds and knowing when and how to expand safely in each matchup is what will take a year

this game is much more rewarding though when you win

Alway loved an intense close match and sealing the win, best feeling ever in an RTS xD
