Hey guys,

After having played SC1 during my teen years with a level of devotion usually reserved for fictional characters, I finally picked up SC2 this last week and seem to have every intention of getting good for HotS.

So, with that in mind, I'm reading and watching my ass off, trying to catch up on 3 years of meta-game, patch notes and epic matches and am constantly hunting for more.

That's where this thread, and you guys, come in.

I'll be posting up things I've found an enjoyed or found helpful, and would really appreciate it if you guys would do the same to help speed up the community learning curve Also any advice/insight into the current state or upcoming changes to the game is very welcome

Zerg has been my race of focus so far, but resources for all are welcome/encouraged.


I'll possibly consider posting up a replay or two if anyone is up for some newb bashing, so long as there is constructive criticism intertwined

I've watched all of the Day9 Episodes listed there, and he has already become my hero (I've yelled at friends for giving advice that contradicts his infinite wisdom) and read various articles, though many seem dated.

You're catching up on the past 3 years of meta-game strategies when there are balance changes every few months?

If you took "catching up on" to mean going through it step-by-step, you misinterpreted my meaning.

By catching up on 3 years of meta-game I meant... My mindset/meta is still that of someone fresh to the game and over the course of 3 years the game and how people think about elements of it have evolved, therefore my knowledge of the game/meta needs to evolve to match the current state of the game/meta... and not by going through every stage of it like you assumed.

*edit* typo + when I see an article is outdated, I don't take hard data into account, just the psychological insights since those remain somewhat constant

Who said I don't? TV and a 2nd screen hooked up, I'm watching shit/reading while running practice matches vs. AI to work on my own timings and playing a good numbers of 1v1's with some 2's/3's/4's thrown in as well (with some arcade games thrown in as well, mainly ones focused on training micro)

So, now that you -hopefully- have cleared the condescension from your lungs, shell or curly tail (I'm not sure where it's stored.) Do you have anything useful to contribute?

Yea sure, I can help you play some 1s if you need. What league are you in?

Was just doing unranked matches since I'm still on week 1, though I seem to fall in around silver based on who I beat/lose to. The basic idea was to delay my seeding for a couple weeks in order to seed a bit higher and spare myself some tedium.

What league you up to? I'm always down for educational 1's, though I'm still at the stage of early-game fuckups like supply blocking while scouting/getting too drone focused

You gotta look up spawning pool timings, hatchery timings, gas timings.

look up youtube or google on builds that can easily start you off and then work your way from there
