It's most likely a port / ip conflict than it is a speed issue considering that cat-5 and up have better carrier speed and insulation. You don't have to deal with emi and structural interference the way you do with wireless.
Or your router, nic, modem is bad. Since you can connect wireless it's prob ur router having trouble assigning dynamic ip's or some random port conflict, maybe both?
