I was put into Bronze after my placements (bad as phuck), but I've been getting better, and I'm #1 Silver in my division. Was just wondering how exactly you leave your grouping? I know people are going to say just win, and I am, but I'm just curious if there's anything in particular behind the promotions.

People who say just win are wrong. Assuming you are beating people above silver, if you keep winning you will slowly get matched vs better players. This is Blizzard MMR ranking system trying to figure out where you belong. Only once you start LOSING will you be placed in a new league.

So if I see myself being paired against Silvers and placement match people, I won't be getting a promotion? I know when I was Bronze (1-2 games before my promotion) I played Plats and Diamonds. Was kind of ridiculous and I lost two in a row, then one the third and got promoted. So it has nothing to do with points then?

Points are only used for bragging. Even if you are rank 1 silver there are divisions where every person in top 50 has more points than you.

Feelsbadman...

So the only way to know if I'm being promoted is if I'm being paired against higher-tier players (gold, plat, diamond, etc) ? Other than that I just have to play my heart out?

Also, I have a question.

As Zerg, what do you build against Protoss? I feel like everything about Protoss crushes Zerg, but I'm probably wrong. Brood Lords seem like an OP way out of a lot of bad situations (though I am only Silver).

Also, what is the build order for rushing with Zerg, Protoss, and Terran? When I'm Zerg, I usually just 6 pool.

Thanks in advance.

Build orders don't mean much if you don't have any mechanics / decision making to back up the initial opener. Just play how you want and everything else will come. As a low league player you should be focusing mostly on spending money and not getting supply blocked. The rest will come with hundreds of games played. Don't worry if you're not getting promoted either, is you belong in silver you should stay in silver. As zerg you build whatever the fuck you want to beat protoss.

Supplies aren't really a problem for me anymore. They were when I took forever to expand, but I've been getting into the habit of expanding early on. It gets to the point where I have more resources than I know what to do with (I try to dish some out to my teammates when I notice they're not expanding fast enough). By build orders, I'm pretty much asking how to stop rushes. I feel like stopping a rush by yourself is impossible. The majority of people I've played with have been bricks, and I'm not saying I'm good by any means. There's a reason I was placed in Bronze to begin.

As for building whatever to build Protoss, really? I thought there were certain types of attacks and that they were worse against certain types of armor (Terran beats Biological, doesn't it?). Is there even an order to what beats what ? (Terran > Zerg > Protoss > Terran) ?

The better player will win the game 95% of the time. It's not about what counters what at low level, in battles it is generally "who has more shit?" If you have 30 roaches which are countered fairly well by immortals for example, that wont matter if he only has 3 immortals. Try to think less of "unit Y counters unit X" and more about just freeflowing gameplay and see where games take you. Think about how best to deal with situations you made a poor choice of later. Watch the replays of games you thought you played particular well and try to see what you could have done better, whether it be hitting injects or spreading creep ur having fast moving units constantly around the map scouting for army movements / expansions etc etc. The best way to get better is to just play and learn from your mistakes while watching replays.

why don't you just play the game? you are not getting better because of promotions, you are getting promotions because you are getting better.
