Learn to micro

Don't be bad
No, its pretty much a detail.
If you want to get good, learn to macro, which mean learning to scout (start with the basic, like "oh, he is taking an early gas and he is terran, he will probably go to reaper and then hellion. I have to scan or scout later to confirm what I'm seeing" . Scout means to have a great metagame / game awarness, being aware of which unit can be build in the next minute with the intels you have.
Then you adapt your macro build. Keep the same global plan, but change detail. If you have to pay a bunker, pay it, dont be greey. If you have to build a tank to defend against roach, do it. Mostly, current macro build are designed to be "globally" safe in the current meta. It means that the build will be very effective in top diamond / master, not below, because people dont play meta, and its in these leagues you will learn to macro, to scout, to react. Don't be supply block too.
Don't underestimate mechanics tho, like starring at the minimap everytime. You don't have to wath the main screen except if you are scouting or microing. Landing a building take less than a second if you know what you are doing. Real infos are on the minimap, always look at the minimap, and you will be more reactive. It is really hard at the beginning, but if you want to be really good (you can jump to master even if you are not reactive) you have to do this work.
Then, the apm. When I talk about apm, I talk mostly about effective action. Being fast on your keyboard do not mean spamming your keys like a retard. It means pressing the right key at the right moment. The faster you are to do this, the better you will get, because you will be able to do more useful things. Apm and map awareness are hardly bound btw.
