Starcraft is not a sport. It's a game. I'm sick of the whole day9 attitude of "lets get people excited about esports, guys!" because its a fucking waste of time. There is no use in pretending that "esports" has any universal appeal at all, accept for hardcore gamers themselves. That's the audience, and it's not going to be getting any bigger than that.
Another reason it's a joke is the concept of the pro gamer. Pro gamers are, essentially, nobodies. Sure, they make a decent living and enjoy a bit of "fame" for being good at what they do, but the bottom line is they are all ego maniacle assholes. People like incontrol make me fucking sick. Sure, he's a smart guy with knowledge about the game, but he is a total and complete jerk of a guy. Charges people 80 bucks an hour because his time is "so valuable" and then turns around and mocks his students on his stream. What a tool!
What are pro gamers going to do with themselves when this is no longer a viable career? What pro gamer has ever done anything to make the world a better place? You see, these are the difference between "esports" and the rest of the world. The "pro" community is just a bunch of self absorbed ego maniacs (the pro's) and wannabe hangers on (the fanboys).
That's another thing i hate, the fanboyism. It's pathetic. Everyone just wants to be noticed by their favorite pro in their chat so they just kiss their butts day and night. It's really quite sad. GUYS, THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. YOU ARE THEIR MEAL TICKET. NOTHING MORE. (not saying you jspers but just the faggot fanboys in general)
Lastly, what is a progamer going to inspire others to do, other than play games? I don't see that as anything constructive. Thanks to "esports" we have twice as many fat, loser basement dwellers as we would have had otherwise. Thanks a lot, esports. It's not like looking up to a musician, who will inspire others to pick up an instrument, or do something productive. That's different altogether.
I'll close by saying that i enjoy sc as much as the next guy. I'm just realistic about what it is; a game/
Sports don't make the world a better place, it's just mindless entertainment to keep people's lives busy, in other words, it's unproductive. Sports figures end up destroying their physique for the means of winning, making money, and notoriety. Stop. Implying. That. Sports. Make. The. World. A. Better. Place.
