my friend joined the navy under the nuclear power program

he got 2 years of the best education you can get

he got married after those 2 years and had to serve 6 months on a submarine, all the while getting a ton more money for being married
after he served 6 months, he was stationed in san diego helping people out of boot camp into the nuclear power program
after he served that for a year and a half he got got a bonus, signed on for another 4 years for another huge bonus
he is still in san diego, has a NICE ass house and he has a regular job on a base training new people. He has to serve 2 months on a sub every year.

If he leaves the Navy he'll have more experience and be able to be hired much easier than anyone just graduating a 4 year in the same field.

I don't understand the notion that going to the military is a waste of time.

You get a better education ( for free ), you get paid a ton of money and don't get stuck with student debts, your military background is something that is a huge plus on resumes. Like, do you have to spew out ignorant bullshit opinions about everything all the time?
