Going to have to disagree with you.

Your argument is basically anti education.

The same argument you made can be applied to learning in school. And yet. Teachers are everywhere because the average person just isn't intuitive to figure everything out. Sc2 no different.

I bet if most people did a lot of math they'd figure out calculus too. But here we are

No. I say it's stupid to teach calculus when your student cant even multiply yet. And the multiplying part here is macro mechanics, which cannot really be taught besides giving a few tips and reading up stuff but by practicing it yourself. Its really unnecessary to buy hours of coaching or even just one when the relevant information can be told in the first ten minutes and then you are just wanking around.

So going school every day and practicing multiplying while teacher helps you and corrects mistakes is stupid right?

Idk what the educational system is like in the third world.

But here in the great North, I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

The thing is that there is literally nothing to teach. This isnt teaching but babysitting.

Can make the same argument for school.

But if that was true, Day9 wouldn't have made the name for himself that he did.
I think you're forgetting what the early days of sc2 were like for you.

There are always things to teach, at all levels. Not everyone has been around since Wings/Beta. Not everyone watches streams/tournies 24/7.

These people have more to learn. And yeah, they can go watch tournies. But, they can also get a coach to help'em out and guide them. And honestly, a lot of the time coaches suggest doing that stuff.

But, half the kids I've coached didn't even know about shit like TL. Hell, I didn't really use TL until I was big into sc2.

Coaching also works as a form of motivation for some people. And you can argue whatever you want about that but, when people have goals/plans or even want to be ready for coaching /practice what coach said they're more likely to do it. Once you pay for something, you're often more committed too.

If coaching is pointless then why do we have music teachers?

I've been playing guitar for many years now, self-taught for quite a few but I still have so much to learn. Coaches speed progress and can help tailor to what you need to focus on.

people who can't get masters on their own shouldnt really bother with spending more money on the game as they are clearly not talented enough to compete, then why spend money on this
and all your comparsions are retarded guys, this is a fucking computer game, not a musical instrument, there is a huge difference in learning to play the guitar or learning to play a computer game
