Nah, that is somewhat true. But if you really want to get better you should always be playing your best/training. Do you think the people who are better did nothing? They trained/work really hard.

Plus you have to account, hard work can only get you so far. Just like in sports, people have that natural ability/are able to achieve things others can not.

But I guess you can argue even through hard work you can be just as great. For the romantics out there.

if you're playing against someone who is clearly not as talented/veteran as you, you will only get better in little increments. unless you have fun beating people worse than you, you're wasting your time. and if you do - let's face it, you're lying to yourself. you aren't as good as you think you are and you need to beat noobs to feel good.

besides that, i really don't know what you're trying to say...
do you think playing noobs helps you? that no matter who you play against, you should train your hardest? i never know if you agree or disagree with me lol

You are trying to say the best way to improve is to play people leagues above you. That by doing so you are being challenged/forcing you to bring everything to the table to win, therefore increasing your skill/making you better. I disagree, it does not work that way in SC. There is a reason there is a skill gap. You have to factor in other variables.

I guess basically I am saying that is not the best way to improve in SC, in my opinion.

From my experience, if you're consistently playing someone who is better than you (not GM vs diamond, but mid high masters vs low masters or high diamond); you will overall learn more from what they tell you, and also learn to play faster.

Are we still talking about this retarded ladder idea? Throw that shit out of the window. I'm talking in general - in custom games, if you're playing a friend who is much better than you, you adapt to what he's doing and can hopefully after 15 games beat him - and then every 3 games you beat him - and then you're as good as him. Playing a bunch of random people who are clearly better than you will hardly help your skill level.

It's like getting boosted. You'll eventually just go back to your noob league.

I agree you will get better. There is no doubt. But the problem with that is, do you know why you need to do XX to win. I think the theory crafting side of SC is lost if you just play higher level people. But you now add in that people are giving advice/reasoning. I was assuming you meant just playing higher level players to get better.

So yeah I agree now, with your last statement.
