Makes up for the lack of mobility of the Protoss army quite nicely. Zerg has mutas/lings, Terran has dropships/hellions, Protoss has...sort of warp prisms? Sort of Phoenix? Blink stalker timings, certainly, but those become shit after minimal tech. Warp gate gives Protoss their only mobility (and by proxy makes warp prisms worth building). I think it is an interesting and unique mechanic.
