practice casually, dont quit your job

if you make gm, then start taking it seriously, but theres no reason you shouldnt give it a try

get gm without going full time before even thinking about being pro is the right choice

So much this~

A couple of years ago, I would have said go for it. August 2013 though... I think its a losing proposition.

I'm the guy who has always said, man I really want to take this serious and so something with this game.. since BW

I've been semi-decent, low masters, not much time dedicated... b+ back in broodwar...

I'm nearing 28 years old though... I dont feel my reflexes have slipped, or I'm slow to react to things...

I'm married, have a kid, and have a full time job, but I literally dream about being as good as those guys up on the stage..

I'm really not trying to be naive about it... but... is it too late for me?... My wife has a full-time job that would easily carry both of us...  and Scarlett is a prime example of someone who can put the effort in and catch up with the group.

Plz no flame but... should I give it a shot?..

Even if you're good enough to go pro, it's not like esports is secure enough that you can make a living out of it. Unless you get picked up by a team like EG, which is very unlikely especially because of your age(wouldn't fit with the rest of EG's members, etc).

It's not worth it, spend time with your wife and kid. Starcraft is for fun, if you had no responsabilities to worry about then fine yeah I say go for it!
The fact is tho you do, so take responsability and leave the pro gaming to the professionals :)

I think its possible, but not plausible if you want to maintain stability with your real life.

got a kid bro, time to think about priorities and not chasing dreams

Getting GM doesn't get you a paycheque .... you'd be poor for years, even if you did eventually make it. Most pro's played in their off-time until they were recognized and/or streaming full-time.

Also the NA scene is more about popularity than skill. Overall I'd say you'd have a better/easier/happier time trying to be an olympic athlete

people vastly overestimate the amount of money there is in being a 'pro sc2 player'
