a gtx 650 is just an expensive brick i think lol -- stick with the core man, the prices for gfx cards drop faster than cpus imo, and nvidia keeps releasing new cards every or so months but the cores are there for a while

here's what we've come up with at the computer hardware discussion subforum~

I'm pretty sure this is what i'm getting ~

some of the parts here are insane but ive got 2 vouches on the build being pretty good so seems good to me

only thing im not sure about is the missing parts ie case fan, cpu cooler, and sound card

Also don't forget Wireless Adapter if ur not hooking it up directly. CPU cooler comes with the CPU unless u want to buy a good one.Pretty sure sound cards are in every motherboard now. If u wanna buy more fans for ur case make sure u find out how big of fans your case can hold.
Make sure to buy the items that your gut tells you to get otherwise you will be craving you had bought it.(Unless its super expensive)

Don't need a sound card, and the build seems pretty tight. The new piledriver processors are pretty good for its cost. I'd ask about the CPU cooler though, you don't need a liquid cooling one, but alot of builds I see on Tomshardware usually has some after market ones added.

sound card, no need
case fan not needed

ew AMD :(

In regards to the last question of your thread, there are reasons for purchasing a higher core count processor.

If you plan on multi-tasking, a high core count will allow you to run more processes at a high performance level. But you probably won't hit 8 cores of use...that takes more intense stuff.

The other reason to get a high core count processor is to "future-proof" your computer. Future programs will use more and more cores (because a higher core count will become expected and standard on all computers) for better performance/higher settings, so having a high core count now will allow you to keep the same parts for a longer period of time.
