If you think this was in response to the recent sky is falling nonsense you're delusional. This isn't something you whip up in a week and have ready to patch into the game. Something like this takes months of development and internal testing. It also is little more than a participation trophy, however the sense of progression is something that the games needs to keep some of the less competitive players interested. I don't see any reason to get butthurt over this except if you like getting butthurt over something that doesn't impact you at all.

also this really was developed long ago, even there were posts about the new ui you could have seen numbers in the bottom left corners of people's portraits, we knew there it is coming
