There are plans in the works for some side prizes but they need to be objectively judged - something evident and concrete, not something that is opinion based.
i am currently weighing between making these side prizes known before hand or not, as it may affect play in the tournament i.e. having a prize for "most nukes fired by a player in a single game" would mean people changing their play to try for side prizes, not to mention people colluding to game the system for side prizes...
discuss?
something like that, but we'll have at least two brackets for US and EU, plus either a lower ranked bracket or a losers bracket for the gold and under crowd that is probably going to be quickly dismantled by the plat/diamond crowd.
The King of JSP title game between EU and USA will have a grand prize, obviously.
so it'll be something like this: (not final numbers)
King of JSP: 2000 fg
1st place USA: 1000 fg
2nd place USA: 500 fg
3rd & 4th place USA: 250 fg each (the two defeated in the USA bracket semifinals)
1st place EU: 1000 fg
2nd place EU: 500 fg
3rd & 4th place EU: 250 fg each (the two defeated in the EU bracket semifinals)
1st place losers bracket: 500 fg
2nd place losers bracket: 250 fg
3rd & 4th place losers bracket: 100 fg each (the two defeated in the losers bracket semifinals)
Side prizes example: 100 fg to the player who lands the most nukes, 100 fg each to the player who comes back from the biggest food deficit to win, et cetera
(number and nature of prizes still to be determined)
EDIT: I'll probably have to make the EU prizes proportional by the number of players in the brackets to be fair to everyone.
That doesn't make sense, there's an overall ranking when tourney is done, winner of loser bracket shud play vs winner of winner bracket, so theorically if the winner of loser bracket loses to the winner of the winner bracket he gets 1000fg and so does the big winner.....
