Ever played those games? You have to have 30 separate hotkeys for one army. Can't hotkey multiple buildings. Units are literally retarded. Not 'literally' as is ironically meaning 'figuratively' but literally mentally retarded. Those games are great but come on. They're old. Judge them for what they were, not for what you romanticize them as.

simplicity makes a game great sometimes, complexity just narrows down the skill to memorization/knowledge of sorts, rather than fast apm reaction. Also, you can hotkey multiple buildings to create, say, mass marines/med/fbat army. Lots of great micro action performed in those games.

Kinda curious why no one is mentioning plain Starcraft 1, better than brood war by far imo. Or did the anti-air and a few other spellcasters really balance the game?

Who hasn't played wc3 and scbw lol. I feel like the whole point of wc3 was the micro aspect, and I don't really understand where ur going with that.

A big reason scbw died was because blizzard pushed for kespa to move to sc2 btw. Didn't seem like you knew.

Sc2 is more polished, but just like with heroes of the storm vs dota, more polished almost always means less complex in terms of skill and overall depth. I still see your point though, it strictly speaking is a game more fit for the masses

there were no medics in sc1, just as an example, medics made a huge fucking difference

E: also alot of balance changes in brood war really rounded out the game

I don't know why I lumped wc3 into the comment, what I was saying wasn't really relevant with WC3 because the game's macro was much simpler.

SC:BW was declining before kespa made the switch to SC2. The game is just old and Blizzard stopped updating it. It's native resolution is a 4:3 standard from 20 years ago. How complicated a game's controls are is of little importance imo, as long as the better player always wins.

How complicated the controls are often dictate what a better player is. Werent you the one who brought up ssbm earlier? That games input was so much more complex compared to brawl and was a better game for it.

It wasn't a better game because it had more complicated controls. The inputs are exactly the same, except in ssbm you can wavedash and the game is faster paced. Brawl sucked because there was virtually no hit stun which meant you couldn't combo.

The inputs arent the same if the controls were more complicated, that doesnt make any sense. More technical difficulty and the pace of that game are directly related for a lot of the game.
