More and more people are leaving the game, no real ingame add (yeah 5 more levels with the last patch..). 0 communication about the 3rd part which could be a reborn of the game if they do it right

open discussions ^_^

They haven't completely forgotten it, but it's certainly on the backburner. LotV doesn't expect to see as many sales as whatever they release next (Hearthstone?), and so it won't be a major priority. I think they'll release LotV, sort of let it run for awhile, and get out of the RTS market for quite some time, as social gaming (teamwork-based games) seems to be the popular thing these days.

they have seperate divisions of blizzard working on different games

They have two major divisions, one working on Starcraft and another working on World of Warcraft. They let their janitors use their computers during the developers lunch breaks to work on Diablo.

WCS is a huge commitment and is not cheap, they are hardly giving up on starcraft

It is a question of where development personnel are being appropriated; I would venture to say that out of the three major labels, SC2 has the smallest dev team.

Maybe in general because it doesn't require content updates like world of warcraft but when it's actually in development I'm sure there are plenty of people working on it.

Like LotV is probably already done for the most part and they are just waiting for HotS to run its course before they start beta testing and such.

I mean that's what makes it a proper competitive game is the fact that it changes very little.

those janitors have done a pretty good job on fixing the game tho, it's quite enjoyable now.

I don't think they plan on leaving the RTS market, yet, because there was discussion about Warcraft returning as an RTS.

They won't be touching it until this whole MOBA thing starts to blow over. Probably have WC4 in dev (and have had it there for quite some time) but I doubt they're planning a release for a good chunk of time.

Yes, they could get quick, easy money off all the WoW kids, but as I understand Blizzard they prefer to create games that have longevity. Starcraft is starting to flounder a bit there, so I would anticipate a good wait before they go after another RTS, given that the market is shrinking.
